PR-A POWERFUL TOOL FOR FRANCHISORS!

Have you fully exploited the power of free publicity for your franchise? PR campaigns or press releases are often overlooked or under-utilized for launching or expanding a franchised business. Think about how an article on how/why you started your franchise business, recent successes, new products or services, or a spotlight on a particular franchisee could generate interest. Even if it doesn't generate franchisee leads, effective press releases can create name and brand awareness—something that's critical to every franchisor!

Hire a local PR firm or advertising agency if you don't have an in-house talent or marketing staff and make the most of this opportunity. Remember, readers respond differently to what appears to be an objective article, than to your paid advertisement. You need both, so don't just use one!

Develop a list of key media—national and local newspapers, industry specific magazines and newsletters, and franchise-related publications (See Resources: Franchise Publications). Call each one and get a contact name and if possible, speak with that person and create some interest in your franchise, even before sending your first release.
